5 NBA FanDuel Value Plays to Target on 12/23/20

Davis Bertans is an elite three-point shooter and sitting under $5K. Is he one of the top values on the slate?

One of the keys to finding success in daily fantasy basketball is uncovering potential value plays. If you're looking to roster a stud player or two, you need to consider squeezing in one of these lower-salaried options into your lineup.

Let's take a look at five players who can help fill in the gaps in your lineup.

Davis Bertans, PF, Washington Wizards ($4,700)

With an over/under sitting at 230.0, the Washington Wizards at Philadelphia 76ers game is a clear spot to target tonight.

The Wizards made a splash this offseason by trading John Wall to the Houston Rockets for Russell Westbrook, but the rest of their team still has plenty of viable fantasy options outside of Westbrook and Bradley Beal. One of those players is power forward Davis Bertans, who is sitting under $5K and projected for 33.2 minutes tonight, according to numberFire. However, minutes aren't the only thing that we are worried about in NBA DFS -- they are a big part, but we also want to look at his production. Bertans is projected for 30.2 FanDuel points, making him the second-best value at power forward tonight.

This game holds the fourth-highest over/under on the slate, which should set us up for plenty of scoring -- something we always want to see in DFS. Bertans is also an elite three-point shooter, hitting on over 40% of his attempts in each of the last two seasons. With the projected scoring for this game being so high, Bertans should have plenty of chances to knock down some outside shots.

Larry Nance, SF, Cleveland Cavaliers ($5,100)

Cleveland Cavaliers small forward Larry Nance Jr. is set to be among the chalkier players on the entire slate.

The Cavaliers announced yesterday that power forward Kevin Love will be out for the season opener. Nance is projected to be the starter and set to produce 31.6 FanDuel points in 31.55 minutes. This makes him the second-best value play among small forwards tonight, and he will likely show up in many lineups you see across different tournaments.

Last season when Love was off the court, Nance produced 0.87 FanDuel points per minute and held a 14.5% usage rate. He should be able to exceed that per-minute production tonight because he is up against the Charlotte Hornets, who allowed 44.50 FanDuel points per game to opposing power forwards last season. You can look to Nance very comfortably tonight in all formats and know he will be very chalky.

Patrick Williams, SF, Chicago Bulls ($3,500)

At minimum salary, Chicago Bulls small forward Patrick Williams can provide a ton of salary relief.

In the four preseason games this year, Williams started two and played two off the bench, but he played 25 minutes or more in each game. The Bulls seem ready to play their new rookie a good volume of minutes, and with his salary at the minimum salary, you want to jump on that tonight. numberFire projections have Williams going for 22.28 minutes and producing 21.0 FanDuel points. That has him exceeding 5x value along with bringing you the salary relief if you are looking to go with a stars and scrubs build approach.

The production shouldn't shock you because the Bulls are taking on the Atlanta Hawks, where the over/under is set at 232 points, which is the second-highest on the slate. Atlanta finished last season as the fourth-fastest paced team in the league, and we should expect much of the same from them this season. The Hawks allowed 42.76 FanDuel points per game to opposing small forwards last season, so you should look to roster a minimum salary player in this matchup.

Dillon Brooks, SG, Memphis Grizzlies ($5,100)

Dillon Brooks comes in as one of the best values among shooting guards on the entire slate.

The Memphis Grizzlies are always going to be a team to target in NBA DFS since they play at a fast pace -- the seventh-fastest team last year -- and they allowed the ninth-most total FanDuel points per game last year. This is great since we can always target players against them as well as their own players since they are in for plenty of possessions.

One of those players tonight is shooting guard Dillon Brooks, who is only $5.1K. If we look at the Grizzlies' projected starters for tonight, Brooks held a 20.2% usage rate and produced 0.71 FanDuel points per minute. Brooks is projected for 32 minutes and 29.2 FanDuel points, making him the fourth-best value among shooting guards tonight. Memphis is taking on the San Antonio Spurs tonight, where the over/under is set at 230.5 points, giving us a great game environment to attack.

Aron Baynes, C, Toronto Raptors ($4,200)

There are a ton of great high-salary centers tonight, but that doesn't mean you can't find some value.

Spending up at center tonight is looking like it will be a popular trend, so going against that trend will make your lineups a bit different in tournaments. You spend down where other players are spending up, which will cause you to spend up where they are spending down. Forcing youself to be contrarian is always interesting, and that can start with Aron Baynes at center tonight.

With DeMarcus Cousins set to miss tonight's game, Baynes is now the best value among centers tonight, according to numberFire's projections. Those projections have him going for 27 minutes and 22.7 FanDuel points, which breaks 5x value. All of that is on the table tonight since the Toronto Raptors are taking on a fast-paced and weak defense in the New Orleans Pelicans.
