Red-Zone Market Shares

1. Javorius Allen Swoops Back Into the Fold

Sunday was kind of a perfect storm for Javorius Allen. Terrance West got hurt early and is expected to miss some time, and Alex Collins was coming off a tongue lashing from his head coach for fumbling. If Allen can retain his Week 5 role, things would be looking pretty solid for his fantasy stock.

The primary allure is that he outcarried Collins, 21-12, while logging five targets for the fourth consecutive game. But the team also turned to Allen when they got close to the end zone.

On Sunday alone, Allen had 10 rushes inside the 20-yard line. West had one before he left, and Collins didn't have any. Seven of Allen's rushes were from inside the 10, three were inside the five, and two were on the one. It doesn't get much more luscious than that.

Anecdotally, this makes sense. If Collins is a risk to cough up the football, why would you give it to him in the scenario where a fumble would be most costly? And while the Ravens may not get a ton of these high-leverage looks every week, they should in the next few games.

The Ravens' next three opponents are the Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings, and Miami Dolphins. The game against the Vikings is in Minnesota, which isn't a great place for fantasy, but the Ravens should be able to put up points against the other two teams at home. Allen's role in the passing game gives him a respectable floor, and the team's trust of him near the goal line gives him a decent ceiling, as well.

2. Devin Funchess Is Here to Stay

For the entire preseason, Devin Funchess had the snap rate you want. In Weeks 2 and 3, he had the targets. Now, over the past two games, the production has finally followed. This guy's not going away any time soon.

We've got essentially four weeks of data since Greg Olsen's injury midway through the second game. Here's the opportunity breakdown Funchess has seen in that time.

Whew, doggies. Sure, Kelvin Benjamin was banged up during that time, but those are some sickly numbers.

Funchess' role in the red zone also makes complete sense. He played tight end in college, and they had a need there with Olsen out of the lineup. Why not throw it to the dude who's 6'5", 230 pounds?

With Cam Newton finally looking healthy again, each target that Funchess gets is increasing in value. He's getting targets, and a bunch of them are high-leverage looks, so feel free to keep plugging this guy in for both season-long and DFS.
