Jimmy Clausen, QB, Chicago Bears

"Santa Clausen" is coming to town this holiday weekend, but I can promise you that all he'll have in his bag are lumps of coal, misfits toys, and piles and piles of broken dreams. Jimmy Clausen has not started an NFL game since 2010, and his record in all starts is 1-9; that's atrocious, yet this is the man who will be getting the start for the Chicago Bears on Sunday instead of Jay Cutler. Our own Jim Sannes broke down this changeover, and it's well worth a read to understand -- yes -- how bad Cutler has been this year and how much worse Clausen is likely to be.

I'll let Jim take point on that one and instead remind you just how amazingly ferocious the Detroit Lions defense has been this year. They still rank 11th in the NFL in Adjusted Defensive Passing NEP, and are first in Adjusted Defensive Rushing NEP by a wide margin. The only defenses that have been better than Detroit overall this season are the Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans. Don't put up Jimmy Clausen, our 31st-ranked quarterback this week, unless you want your lineup to get run over by a reindeer.
