Russell Wilson, QB, Seattle Seahawks

Russell Wilson is one of three quarterbacks to have two games of at least 30 fantasy points this season (the other two are Ben Roethlisberger and Tom Brady). The other two, however, also have at least two other games of at least 20 fantasy points; Wilson has just one.

I've used this stat before, but in the conservative Seattle Seahawks offense, Russell Wilson has reached 225 or more passing yards in a game just twice this season, and he's passed for fewer than 200 yards in a week four times. That's an atrocious total for a player considered to be one of the better quarterbacks in the league. The only reason he hasn't had a single-digit fantasy point game yet is because of his natural running ability, which has put him on pace for just under 800 yards rushing and 6 touchdowns on the ground.

Against a fairly soft New York Giants' rush defense (20th in the NFL in Adjusted Defensive Rushing Net Expected Points), I expect the Seahawks to do what they do best, and that's hammer the ball on the ground with running back Marshawn Lynch. Wilson should get some room to rumble on read-option plays and scrambles, but I wouldn't be expecting a lot out of his arm here, as the Giants are shockingly in the top half of the league (14th) in Adjusted Defensive Passing NEP, and were actually higher than that before their blowout loss to the Colts in Week 9. While I don't expect Wilson to plummet out of the sky, he's more of a back-end "Air Force One" option this week.
