8 Big-Name Players Who Could Disappoint in Week 10

Tony Romo, QB, Dallas Cowboys

This one just makes sense. Even though Tony Romo is the head of state for "America's Team", I'd expect him to be a pretty shaky candidate for you to trust starting in Week 10. A lot of this just comes down to the depth at the quarterback position: would you rather start Romo, who has a balky back that was aggravated two weeks ago, or someone like Derek Carr, who is virtually unowned and gets garbage time against the Denver Broncos this week?

After getting sacked by Washington's Keenan Robinson in Week 8, Romo left for two series while his bruised spine was checked out by trainers. He came back to play, but was largely ineffective after that incident, chalking up a meager 12 total fantasy points. In Week 9, Romo was completely sidelined and lost the start to backup Brandon Weeden. The silver lining for Romo believers is that Weeden's play in Week 10 was absolutely messy, and even a 50% Tony Romo might be better than a 100% Brandon Weeden. However, we've seen how Romo (and really any quarterback) looks when their back isn't right: it shifts their whole throwing motion and body rotation, and inaccuracy as well as a loss of velocity are very common.

All this means that when he's off, Romo plays poorly, as evidenced by his scores in Weeks 1 to 3, as he was working back from offseason surgery rustiness: 9, 11, 15. If the Cowboys are smart, they will bench their franchise quarterback and let him enjoy his "English holiday", and so should you.
