Dalvin Cook Will Post Personal Bests

Nobody who watches Dalvin Cook play football can think that he's slow. He possesses the second-fastest top-speed among any ball-carrier this season, per NFL's Next Gen Stats -- and that was in his first game back after an extensive hamstring injury. The Minnesota Vikings' offensive line might be among the very worst in the league, but you can't deny that it is special when Cook manages to get in the open field.

And yet, despite his ridiculous elusiveness in space (his injuries have unfortunately limited his total opportunities to impress, but on a per-touch basis he's elite), he's only topped 100 rushing yards once. On a similar note, he has never had more than 72 receiving yards in a game, even with his great pass-catching chops.

Cook has had a limited work load in 2018, but he's really starting to come into his own. He hasn't topped 100 yards in rushing or receiving so far, but that's about to change. In fact, he's going to set personal records in both rushing and receiving yardage in Week 15.

The Vikings are at home and taking on the Miami Dolphins this week, and per numberFire's models they are seven-point favorites. That kind of positive game script should bode well for the favorite's running back, especially considering that he dominated teammate Latavius Murray in touches last week in a mostly neutral game script. Only the Arizona Cardinals have faced more opposing running back rushes this year than the Dolphins, and the 'Phins have given up the fourth-most rushing yardage this season.

Things don't look much better for the Dolphins in the passing game -- they're only average at defending against running backs in the passing game. But Cook has had the fifth-most targets at the position since returning from injury. He's been a massive part of the Vikings passing game over that period of time with 23 targets, and that's not going to stop against the Dolphins, especially after his season-high 86% snap count game in Week 14.

Despite last week's upset win over the New England Patriots, the Dolphins aren't an elite team, particularly on defense. Cook will have no problems setting personal records in rushing and receiving yardage against a struggling Miami defense at home up north.
