Running Back

Chalk

How can anybody deny what Todd Gurley has done this season? While people are often scared off by $9,500 price tags -- it is 15.83% of your FanDuel cap, after all -- sometimes there are certain players who are playing at a different level than others and warrant a spot in your roster on a weekly basis, regardless of cost.

Gurley has scored nine times already this season. Just 10 running backs scored that many times throughout all of last season. The Rams' star is on pace for nearly 29 touchdowns. That's pretty good, though it's still no Ladainian Tomlinson.

He can get ahead of LT's 31-touchdown pace if he tacks on 3 scores this weekend, which is certainly a plausible scenario against a Broncos defense that just allowed the Jets to rush for over 300 yards.

Gurley had a 30.68% ownership in last week's Sunday Million, and he could easily eclipse that this week. Melvin Gordon was actually on more people's lineups last week and could be popular again despite a harder-than-it-looks matchup against the Cleveland Browns.

At a slightly cheaper price, Joe Mixon will likely be a popular play in a game with a 52.5 total, the second-highest on the Sunday main slate. Giovani Bernard didn't practice Thursday and is likely out this week, opening up a full workload for Mixon.

Pivot

Marshawn Lynch, Oakland Raiders: $6,500 (at Seattle Seahawks)

After a strong 130-yard rushing performance in Week 4, Marshawn Lynch's 4.19% ownership in the FanDuel Sunday Million jumped to 6.29% in Week 5, making him the 10th-most popular running back in people's lineups.

There will be two forces driving his ownership this week. On the one hand, Lynch finally came back down to earth with just 9 carries for 31 yards in last week's 26-10 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. On the other hand, he gets a revenge game this week when the Oakland Raiders host the Seattle Seahawks, albeit in London.

Lynch has played against the 'Hawks just once in his career, all the way back in Game 1 of the 2008 season when he was in his second year with the Buffalo Bills. He enters this week's game ranked 13th in our Rushing Net Expected Points metric and 17th in FanDuel points per game.

The Seahawks -- last week's three-touchdown game from Gurley notwithstanding -- haven't given up many huge fantasy performances to opposing backs this year, but they've consistently given up good performances.

Five different running backs have rushed for at least 71 yards against them, and four have totaled at least 100 yards from scrimmage. They've given up 4.7 rushing yards per attempt, the 7th-highest in the NFL.

We have Lynch projected for 11.6 FanDuel points with upside for 25.1. If he can hit that top mark, he'd return a value of nearly 3.9 points per $1,000. I wouldn't bet against him getting there.
