Wide Recevier

Chalk

Chalk this week might as well be a love letter to the Chiefs and Patriots. Given this, I initially expected to see a lot of love headed towards Tyreek Hill and Brandin Cooks. While I've seen a few fantasy pundits talk about these two, they are not being touted to the levels I had initially expected. They are the 19th- and 25th-most tagged wide receivers on FanShare Sports.

The one name that is being tossed around most this week is Sterling Shepard. The second-year player has seen 22 targets the past two weeks, and he broke out with a massive 11-catch, 142-yard day in Week 10. The Chiefs are dead last against wide receivers this year, giving up 2.64 more fantasy points per game than the 31st-ranked Patriots. Given the matchup and a price tag of only $6,500, Shepard will no doubt be on people's minds as they build rosters.

Other names that should prove popular this week include Oakland's Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree, Minnesota's Adam Thielen, and the Rams' Robert Woods, the latter of whom had a massive day (8 catches for 171 yards and 2 scores) last week.

Pivot

Tyreek Hill, $7,600, (at New York Giants)

By all accounts, Hill has every reason to be a popular play this week. Yet, he is being overshadowed for a number of reasons. Perhaps the biggest reason for people overlooking Hill this week is his own teammate, Travis Kelce, who no doubt gets perhaps the best tight end matchup of the week. People stacking Smith and Kelce may not want to add on a third Chief no matter how good the matchup is. Hill also likely gains detractors because of his boom-or-bust output. He has scored at least 14 FanDuel points five times this season, yet he has failed to put up double digits in back-to-back weeks.

The Giants haven't cracked the top-10 worst defenses against the wide receiver position (yet), but they are trending in that direction. They have only allowed one 100-yard receiver this season, but they have given up six scores to the position across the past three games. What makes this even more intriguing is that five of these six scores have been from at least 20 yards out -- with three of those being at least 50 yards. Add in Garrett Celek's 47-yard reception last week, and we are looking at a defense that is playing right into the hands of one of the most dynamic big-play receivers in the league.

Both Hill and Cooks have huge potential this week in very favorable matchups, and both could have lower ownership than they would usually warrant in such good spots.
