Running Back

Mark Ingram, New Orleans Saints

Week 6 Salary: $5,900

Week 7 Salary: $7,100

Mark Ingram saw one of the largest jumps in salary of any player at any position, which shouldn't come as much of a surprise following a 30-touch, 150-scrimmage-yard, 2-touchdown game. He comes in as the 10th-most expensive back on the slate for this week's matchup against the Green Bay Packers.

A big part of what helped Ingram's cause last week was the positive game script, which led to New Orleans feeding their backs 44 touches. That is good news for this week, because New Orleans' 26-point implied team total is the 5th-highest, as they are 4.5 point favorites against the Brett Hundley-led Packers.

Ingram out-snapped Alvin Kamara 47-to-30, which has been a trend since Week 2. Green Bay has allowed the 9th-most FanDuel points to opposing running backs, including a 22.4 point performance to Jerick McKinnon last week. Don't let the increase in price scare you -- Ingram is again a terrific play this week.

Jerick McKinnon, Minnesota Vikings

Week 6 Salary: $5,600

Week 7 Salary: $7,000

Speaking of Jerick McKinnon, no back saw a larger price spike than his $1,400 increase. He's piled up 46 FanDuel points over his past two games, while out-snapping Latavius Murray 91-to-55. So, does that mean he is worth paying $7,000 for?

His Minnesota Vikings are healthy 5.5 point favorites over the Baltimore Ravens, who have not been as stout against the run as most would have expected this season. They rank 18th against the run according to our metrics and have given up over 170 scrimmage yards to an opposing back in two of their past three games -- Le'Veon Bell and Jordan Howard, who averaged 38 touches in said games, to be fair.

That's the thing, though. Baltimore's offense has been so bad (30th in Adjusted NEP per play) that opponents have been able to run heavily while playing with the lead. It is unlikely that Baltimore sees an offensive breakout in a tough road matchup against Minnesota's defense, so expect McKinnon to get all the touches he can handle. Ingram has more scoring upside, but McKinnon is a fine play too.
