Rishard Matthews Without Corey Davis

Rishard Matthews, Corey Davis, and Eric Decker were all healthy for the Tennessee Titans in Week 1. Marcus Mariota locked in on Davis for a team-high 10 targets, which was only one more than the number Matthews received (and only two more than Decker's allotment).

Davis played only 23 snaps the following week after re-aggravating the same hamstring that kept him out for the entire preseason. Matthews and Decker finished tied for the team lead in targets with five each.

With Davis out in Week 3, though, Matthews erupted for 87 yards and 1 score, amassing a 31.2% target share -- an eye-popping line considering it came against the Seattle Seahawks, who currently rank top 10 in Adjusted Defensive Passing NEP. Fortunately for Matthews, the Houston Texans (his opponent Sunday) rank 19th in Defensive Passing NEP and have allowed an average 380.5 air yards and 11.35 average depth of target over the last two weeks.

Pro Football Focus has Tennessee's offensive line allowing a mere 4.2% pressure rate (tied for second-lowest). If Mariota is given time to settle and throw, Matthews could be in store for another big day without Davis.

After all, the above stats tell us that it's Matthews whose shown rapport with his quarterback.
