3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 6/4/19

Baseball is heating up, and there are plenty of DFS contests to choose from on FanDuel's main slate. While we have plenty of pieces geared towards guys you should target in your DFS contests, it's also important to avoid sub-optimal options who are overpriced and/or in tough spots.

Let's check out three players to consider fading on FanDuel's main slate for June 4.

Nolan Arenado, Colorado Rockies (3B)

at Chicago Cubs
FanDuel Price: $4,300

Nolan Arenado of the Colorado Rockies has reclaimed his throne as the premier third baseman in fantasy baseball -- in his last 10 games, he has smashed five homers and 17 runs batted in on his way to a crisp 1.494 OPS.

While it certainly helps that those 10 games were inside of Coors Field, Arenado is no fluky hitter -- but tonight he has a tall task ahead of himself with righty Kyle Hendricks opposing the Rockies.

After a rough start to 2019, Hendricks has been downright filthy -- and same-sided batters have stood no chance. Spanning 160 plate appearances, righties have mustered only a .257 wOBA, 30.4% hard-hit rate, and 29.2% fly-ball rate.

Expect Arenado to slow his pace a bit tonight.

Ketel Marte, Arizona Diamondbacks (OF)

vs Los Angeles Dodgers
FanDuel Price: $3,800

Cy Ryu? That may be the case this year, as Hyun-jin Ryu of the Los Angeles Dodgers has been nasty on hitters this season.

While many would rightfully expect Ryu to be tough on lefties, he's been really difficult on right-handed batters as well, making life miserable on switch-hitters like Ketel Marte. This year, Ryu has limited right-handed bats to a 28.8% fly-ball rate, including a 24.5% strikeout rate and .244 wOBA.

While Marte has been strong as a righty in 2019, rocking a .984 OPS, betting on a big night against Ryu could be a bit foolish.

Jorge Polanco, Minnesota Twins (SS)

at Cleveland Indians
FanDuel Price: $4,200

With the third-most wins in baseball, and a cool 11.5-game lead in the AL Central, the Minnesota Twins have been playing some great baseball, and Jorge Polanco has been a huge piece of that offensive attack, logging a .989 OPS on the season.

The switch-hitting short stop could find things tougher with an intra-division matchup against the Cleveland Indians and Shane Bieber. Over 127 plate appearances this year, Bieber has limited lefty swingers to a .317 wOBA and 30.7% strikeout rate.

The Twins lead the league in team wOBA (.357), and Polanco is a big part of that -- but it may be best to steer clear of Polanco tonight.
