Truthfully, Zack Greinke is actually a relatively safe play.

While he no longer flashes the strong strikeout rate that he did with the Los Angeles Dodgers, he's still around league average (19.8%), and he's taking on a San Diego Padres team with a 23.9% strikeout rate and 83 wRC+ against righties this season. In his last start, he scored 43 FanDuel points on the road against the Padres.

This time he's at home in Chase Field, but even if you take into account his struggles at home in 2016 (4.35 FIP and 4.54 xFIP), this is a matchup he should do fine in.

The problem is his price. As the most expensive pitcher on the board, and the only one cracking the five-digit mark, you want an ace, not a "relatively safe play." Spending that much at pitcher will leave you strapped for cash on a day when Jacob Turner and his career 5.09 ERA is in Coors Field.

Expect a solid outing from Greinke, but for overall roster construction, you're better off going elsewhere.
