4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 4/24/17
We have nine games on the docket tonight, with a particularly interesting decision to make at pitcher.
The high-strikeout upside of Chris Archer ($9,500) always makes him a viable choice, but with rain threatening the game in Baltimore, you may have to pivot to some candidates you wouldn't have expected a few weeks ago. Jason Vargas ($8,500), Amir Garrett ($7,700), and Hyun-jin Ryu ($7,200) have all gotten off to surprising hot starts, and with a game in Coors, picking one of them for some savings could go a long way.
But they all have sample-size question marks, and Vargas in particular is a fascinating case. He's 34 years old and has a career 15.7% strikeout rate, yet he's posted a 31.1% rate this season with an average fastball under 90 miles per hour. One has to remain skeptical that this can last, but the punchouts are supported by a 13.4% swinging-strike rate and he's going up against a strikeout-prone Chicago White Sox team, putting him in play.
But who isn't in play? Let's go through some guys you're better off fading.
