Matt McGloin, QB, Oakland Raiders

Like Shaun Hill, Matthew McGloin has a nice job as the backup quarterback for an NFL team. Like Hill, McGloin has started in spurts in the pros. Like Hill, McGloin has been well overpaid for his production so far. Since going undrafted in 2013 and getting a chance to start intermittently for the Oakland Raiders that season in a timeshare with Terrelle Pryor, McGloin was demoted with the drafting of Derek Carr. Even when he was starting, he was unimpressive, but he’s been horrendous in cleanup duty for Carr since then, accruing a -0.30 Passing NEP per drop back in the last two years.

McGloin is in the final year of his rookie deal with the Raiders and has no dead money on his contract but is carrying a $2.55 million cap hit. The team selected Connor Cook in the fourth round of the NFL Draft this year and is likely to carry only two quarterbacks into the season.
