Jamaal Charles, RB, Kansas City Chiefs

"JC Superstar" is a top-10 fantasy scoring running back at a time when fantasy owners will start just about anything that can take a handoff; that's how dire the landscape is for production at the running back position. This makes him a valuable quantity, but we need to look beyond his name value and past production this week and really consider what he is most likely to do on Sunday.

Against Denver last week, we saw Jamaal Charles swallowed up both by opposing defenders and Andy Reid's nonsensical game plan. With his best player only receiving 14 touches, Charles posted a lackluster 11 points, salvaged by a cheap receiving touchdown.

The good news for Charles owners is that his opponent this week, the Arizona Cardinals, will not be able to lap the Chiefs on offense nearly as easily as the Broncos did in Week 13. The bad news is that Arizona has been the third-best defensive unit when it comes to limiting opposing rushing attacks and even rank sixth in the NFL in Adjusted Defensive Rushing NEP. Game script and volume should be more friendly to Charles this weekend, but the quality of his touches should remain greatly diminished. You can't really bench him, but temper expectations.
