Behind the aforementioned Jaylen Samuels, Jeff Wilson is numberFire’s second-highest value this week. The 2018 undrafted free agent took over the San Francisco 49ers' backfield after Matt Breida left early last week. Breida has been ruled out for Week 14, which makes Wilson a value in DFS this week.
Wilson had a large workload last week, taking 15 carries and 8 catches for 134 scrimmage yards. He was very involved in the offense, capturing a 73% snap rate and having run 33 routes, via Pro Football Focus. The only sub-$5K running back to top Wilson's routes run last week was Nyheim Hines, who is especially known for his receiving prowess.
He did a lot of damage even despite a heavy negative game script, as the Niners spent most of Week 13 trailing. What Wilson has shown -- unlike Breida -- is the ability to at least see considerable target volume. Breida never exceeded four targets in any game he played in, and Wilson was able to double that in one that he didn’t even start in.
The team showed confidence last week by having only Wilson and Breida active for the game, which bodes well given that backup Alfred Morris continues to be inactive on game days. His last carry came in Week 10. Morris should be active this week but can only be projected for a handful of carries.
The starting Niners running back has been excellent for fantasy purposes this year because of their efficient run game -= Breida has a 5.9 yards per carry on the season and the Niners are top 10 in adjusted line yards. Wilson is a nice point-per-dollar value on the main slate.
