Quarterback

Chalk

A few nuances like Thanksgiving and bye weeks have turned the quarterback position into a challenging one for Week 12 contests. With stars Patrick Mahomes and Jared Goff on bye, and Matt Ryan, Drew Brees, and Colt McCoy (wait) already suiting up on Thursday, a number of good options aren't available to use.

Our expected top performer for the week is Cam Newton, at 22.7 FanDuel points. Per our heat map, the Carolina Panthers are 3.5-point favorites and possess a healthy implied team total of 25.0 points. While Carolina faces a tough Seattle defense (per our rankings), Newton's solid floor makes him a tantalizing choice. Since Week 2, the quarterback has posted 24-plus FanDuel points in seven of nine contests.

The Indianapolis Colts and the New England Patriots possess the two highest implied team totals of the day, at 29.25 and 28.75 points, respectively, and that should lead to heavy ownership for both Andrew Luck (21.5 FanDuel points) and Tom Brady (21.7 FanDuel points).

Pivot

Carson Wentz, Philadelphia Eagles: $7,700 (vs New York Giants)

After laying an absolute goose egg against the New Orleans Saints, can we trust in Carson Wentz?

This seems to be a solid week to hope for a bounce-back effort. Facing a very poor New York Giants passing defense, which we have ranked 25th against the pass, Wentz would seemingly posses a high floor with a projection of 20.0 FanDuel points. In peeking at his tournament upside, we have Wentz looking at a possible 34.22-FanDuel-point upside, or 4.44 times his value per $1,000 of salary.

It could be tough to roster Wentz after last week's abominable performance (3.84 FanDuel points), but there's plenty of upside potential this week.
