There’s been a changing of the guard within the Philadelphia backfield. Josh Adams, an undrafted rookie running back, has slowly worked his way into the lineup since Week 7.

Since Week 7, Adams has played in only 24% of the teams snaps, but has run the ball 27 times, posting a 70.3% Success Rate (percentage of carries on which he generates positive NEP) and averaging 6.6 yards per carry. We are in danger of examining small sample sizes here, but by comparison with his teammates -- Wendell Smallwood and Corey Clement -- he has looked especially good.

Last week, Adams saw a season high 55% of the Eagles snaps and led the team in opportunities (rushes and targets) with 13.

The change is a logical one, he’s been the Eagles best runner, leading the backfield every week since being implemented and has had a Success Rate of at least 71% in each game since their bye. Head Coach Doug Pederson also mentioned that Adams should get more touches moving forward in their Monday press conference. Adams probably isn’t in line for a huge workload bump, but the commentary is positive reinforcement in that Adam’s role should grow moving forward.

As a 6-point favorite at home, Adams should see positive game flow where the 20th ranked New York Giants aren’t particularly great at defending the run. Factoring in price, Adams is a nice sub-$4,000 value back.
