Running Back

Chalk

With running backs like Todd Gurley and Kareem Hunt off of the main slate, some obvious options are off the board. However, that certainly doesn't mean we are devoid of some monster scoring output at the running back position.

Ezekiel Elliott seems to be primed for a huge day on Sunday. On the main slate, Zeke is projected for the second-highest total (21.9 FanDuel points), and he faces a Atlanta Falcons defense that's allowed the second-most points per game (26.8) to opposing running backs and 84 receptions to running backs, which is tops in the NFL.

David Johnson may finally be getting the workload he deserves under new offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich, and that makes all fantasy owners pretty pleased. Johnson and the Arizona Cardinals will be geared up to face the Oakland Raiders, who allow the fifth-most points to opposing runners (21.7 per game). Johnson went ham in Week 10 to the tune of 183 all-purpose yards and 33.8 FanDuel points, making him a tasty option.

Pivot

Philip Lindsay, Denver Broncos: $6,400 (at Los Angeles Chargers)

Looking at our heat map, the Denver Broncos have one of the lowest implied team totals of the week (19.75 points). So, does repping a running back in such a negative game script make sense?

If looking back at past weeks is any indicator, it does. While Phillip Lindsay is projected for 12.99 FanDuel points, the Los Angeles Chargers have been roasted on the ground in the last four weeks, and none of those runners even found the end zone.

Week NameTotal YardsFanDuel Points
6Duke Johnson10912.9
7Dion Lewis15518.5
9Mike Davis10714.2
10Doug Martin9210.7

To boot, Lindsay has been a really efficient runner this season. Among backs with 75 or more carries, Lindsay owns the seventh-best Rushing NEP per carry mark in the league (0.11).

We have the Broncos back possessing some major tournament upside (20.96 FanDuel points), which would put him at a ridiculous 4.89X value per $1,000. Check out this running back to differentiate yourself a bit from the crowd.
