Quarterback

Chalk

Is there any limit to what Drew Brees can do from a fantasy perspective? One of the top quarterbacks on this week's main slate and projected for 22.1 FanDuel points, Brees and his New Orleans Saints sport the highest implied team total (32.00 points) per our heat map. Currently 8.0-point favorites against the Philadelphia Eagles, Brees is likely to see heavy ownership.

Not to be outdone, Philip Rivers could be a popular play, too. The Los Angeles Chargers face the Denver Broncos in an AFC West tilt, and we have Rivers slated for an impressive 19.6 FanDuel points. The Bolts also possesses a healthy implied team total of 26.75 FanDuel points.

This week's top-ranked quarterback, per our projections, is Cam Newton at 24.2 FanDuel points. He should be heavily owned thanks to a matchup with a Detroit Lions pass defense that ranks second-worst, per our rankings.

Pivot

Eli Manning, New York Giants: $6,700 (vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers)

Yes, I really do want you to consider playing Eli Manning. Despite posting one of his worst statistical seasons of his career, by traditional metrics or our Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) metric (0.06), Manning has a great matchup to take advantage of this weekend.

Facing a very poor Bucs passing defense, which we have as the third-worst passing defense and has allowed the second-most points to opposing quarterbacks (24.1), Manning's projection of 18.6 FanDuel points could be a pretty high floor. In peeking at his tournament upside, we have Manning looking at a possible 30.48-FanDuel-point upside, or 4.55 times his value per $1,000 of salary.

Rostering someone like Manning can be volatile, but there's potential for huge upside at a bargain price.
