DeShaun Watson Has a New Weapon to Play With

Keke Coutee had one heck of a debut. In a record-setting game, Coutee led the Houston Texans in targets (15) and receptions (11), and finished second in yardage behind superstar DeAndre Hopkins. Coutee particularly stood out in Will Fuller's absence, drawing 10 of his 15 targets in the second half.

Perhaps we should have expected something like this from the rookie's first game. The Texans selected Coutee in the 4th round of the draft (pick 104 overall), and carried him onto the final roster despite a hamstring issue that held him out of the entire preseason. Does this sound familiar to you? I'm not saying he's going to become Odell Beckham, but the coincidental similarities between their inaugural seasons and Week 4 breakout games are striking -- as were their performances.

This should be a big deal for Deshaun Watson, who was lacking a third option in the passing game behind Fuller and Hopkins. 5 of Coutee's 15 targets came at or behind the line of scrimmage, giving dynamic play-making options at every depth of the field. Coutee's presence could be a harbinger of things to come -- and a return to form -- for last year's most exciting young quarterback.
