Wendell Smallwood, RB, Philadelphia Eagles

Week 3 Salary: $4,500

Week 4 Salary: $5,500

The Philadelphia Eagles had lost both Jay Ajayi and Darren Sproles to injury before last week's game and were looking rather sparse at the running back position. Eagles fans might have been skeptical, and Corey Clement's two fumbles against the Indianapolis Colts certainly couldn't have helped matters.

The Eagles were able to pounce on those loose balls, but more importantly, the team got a solid performance from Wendell Smallwood, a third-year player out of West Virginia. He finished Sunday's game with 16.6 FanDuel points, enough to place him as the 10th-ranked running back on FanDuel last week and earn him a $1,000 salary bump heading into Week 4.

It looked like both Sproles and Ajayi might be back this week, limiting Smallwood's potential. Sproles, however, didn't practice on Thursday, and Ajayi apparently has a back fracture. I don't know about you, but that sounds like something I'd want to avoid playing through.

Ajayi has other ideas, of course, as evidenced by a full practice on Thursday, meaning it's likely he'll play this week against the Tennessee Titans. As such, Smallwood's workload will no doubt decrease in Week 4, but he's a player who should continue to be on your radar going forward. With all the injury issues, his chance could come again sooner than you might expect.
