Somehow, someway, Ryan Fitzpatrick always finds himself in a situation where he gets to start. Perhaps it's his Wonderlic score of 48. Perhaps he's just skilled at his job and is always ready to step up when an injury or suspension happens to a teammate. Whatever the case, Fitzmagic is one of the players our models are centering on as a value play this week.

Fitzpatrick came to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last season and got significant playing time in four games. The Bucs were 2-1 in the three games he started and went 3-10 when he was either on the bench or didn't play.

Tampa is set to face the New Orleans Saints to kickoff this season, a team that gave up the 12th-most DraftKings points to opposing quarterbacks last season. Few if any are projecting a win, but the game flow should work out in the favor of those who dare to dream and put Fitz in their lineups. The Saints are 9.5-point favorites this week, the biggest spread on the slate. As such, it is very plausible that the Saints jump out to an early and even significant lead, which would force the Bucs to turn to the air.

Fitz has played in just two games throughout his career as an underdog of at least seven points and a total of 49.5 or higher. In those games, he's put up a robust 322 yards and 2 scores.

Our models don't expect that level of production, but they see a serviceable result, especially for a $5,000 tag. We project him for 16.8 DraftKings points this Sunday.
