Jonathan Stewart, RB, Carolina Panthers

Yahoo Ownership Percentage: 44%

As a longtime Carolina Panthers fan, I've loved Jonathan Stewart for nearly a decade. But if he was on my fantasy team, I'd have to put my personal feelings aside, because he's a low-floor, completely untrustworthy option.

Thus far, Stewart's gotten most of the carries out of the Panthers' backfield, but if Week 9 was any indication, there may be an official changing of the guard occurring. He may have helped facilitate that change by coughing up two costly fumbles en route to logging only 11 carries on the day. Christian McCaffrey logged 15 totes against the Atlanta Falcons, marking the first time he'd gotten more carries than Stewart this season.

The shocking trade that sent Kelvin Benjamin to the Buffalo Bills may have helped motivate this transition. Interim general manager Marty Hurney explained that the reason for dealing Benjamin was to get more speed on the field, and having two large receivers in Benjamin and Devin Funchess prevented that from occurring.

If speed is the name of the game, then McCaffrey supplanting Stewart makes sense as a way to follow that credo. The rookie delivered with his additional work, gobbling up 5 receptions while clocking 66 yards on the ground compared to Stewart's 21.

With Stewart having long been a non-factor in the Panthers' passing game and McCaffrey pulling evening in the distribution of carries, Stewart's low-floor, low-ceiling combination is to be avoided. He can be dropped in all formats.
