Drew Stanton, QB, Arizona Cardinals

Drew Stanton will be making his first start of the season in place of the injured Carson Palmer (arm) on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers.

Put bluntly, he was egregious after Palmer went down in Week 7, going 5-of-14 with an interception, but he has shown some fringe fantasy value in the past and he draws a great matchup.

His last start came in Week 5 last year (also against the Niners, coincidentally), and while he only completed 39.3% of his passes, he still managed 12.7 fantasy points. Before that, his last stint as a starter came in 2014, where he again showed that you don't necessarily need to be a good real-world passer to have fantasy value in the right matchups, topping 15 fantasy points three times.

San Francisco ranks 25th in Adjusted Defensive Passing NEP per play this season, which has translated to the league's second-most fantasy points per game (20.3) to opposing quarterbacks. They're exactly the kind of team that even Drew Stanton can post respectable fantasy numbers against.
