Running Back

Chalk

We can expect a fairly large ownership percentage for Leonard Fournette this week if he's healthy. The rookie rusher has scored at least 20.8 points in three straight weeks and faces an Indianapolis Colts defense that is giving up the fourth-most FanDuel points per game to the position.

With another suspension delay, Ezekiel Elliott could see strong ownership against a porous San Francisco 49ers run defense. For those looking to save some dough, Adrian Peterson will likely be a popular play against the Rams after destroying Tampa Bay in his Cardinals debut.

Pivots

LeSean McCoy, $7,900 (vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers)

It is odd seeing people shy away from using Lesean McCoy, but there is good reason for the trepidation. Without many passing threats, Buffalo Bills opponents have been able to focus on stopping the run. Yet, McCoy has still come through with four double-digit scoring games and ranks as the 15th-best FanDuel running back when looking at points per game.

He'll face a Bucs team that was shredded by Adrian Peterson last week and also allowed Dalvin Cook to accrue 169 total yards and a score in Week 3. The Bills are favored by three, and if Jameis Winston isn't able to suit up on Sunday, the game script could increasingly favor even heavier usage for McCoy.

A non-traditional stack with Tyrod Taylor would make for a risky but high-upside and low-ownership play.

Frank Gore, $5,500 (vs. Jacksonville Jaguars)

Frank Gore has rarely been a flashy player in his career. He has won over fantasy owners with durability and determination, and he continues to produce, despite his ancient-for-a-running-back 34-year-old body. He's scored 9.5 points or more in four of six games and has received 10-plus carries and 3-plus targets in each of his last three games. He also gets a matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars, who have allowed 130.5 rushing yards per game to opposing running backs.

With his season-low $5,500 price tag, Gore represents an excellent pivot play if you are looking to punt the running back position to pay up for more expensive options such as Tom Brady and Julio Jones.
