5 NFL Stats to Know Through Week 3
Cam Newton's 11.08 Fantasy Points per Game Ranks 29th Among Quarterbacks
In Week 3 alone, both Tom Brady and Russell Wilson scored more fantasy points than Cam Newton's season total (33.24). Newton has averaged just 10.57 fantasy points over his past five games (including last year) and it's only the second time in his career that he's been held under 15 fantasy points in more than two consecutive games.
Check out how he has performed this season among the 35 quarterbacks with at least 15 drop backs.
Category | Value | Rank |
---|---|---|
Passing NEP per Drop Back | -0.06 | 27th |
Pass Att/G | 27.7 | 28th |
Pass Yds/G | 188.7 | 29th |
Pass Touchdowns | 2 | t-29th |
Interceptions | 4 | t-2nd most |
Stretched over a full 16-game season, every single one of those stats would be the worst mark of his career, while his 4.67 rushing attempts per game and 3.3 yards per carry would also be the worst he's ever produced.
He only managed a season-low 8.28 fantasy points against the New Orleans Saints, who are allowing the second-most fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks. Newton gets a much-needed meeting with the Patriots in Week 4, who are the only team worse than the Saints in that category.
