Garbage time was kind to Davante Adams on Sunday night.
After spending most of Week 1 as the sacrificial lamb against Richard Sherman, Adams was active as the Packers attempted to climb out of a 31-7 deficit early in the second half, catching five of his eight passes and a touchdown after the halftime break. Of course, they all count in fantasy football, even if the game didn't appear in doubt for much of the night.
Although with the Atlanta Falcons, I guess no lead can really be considered safe.
After Adams' dud of a Week 1 where he caught just 3 of 7 targets for 47 yards, it was fair to wonder if perhaps his breakout 2016 season was a bit of an aberration. That was especially true given the seeming rebirth of Randall Cobb, who led the team in targets (13), receptions (9) and yards (85) in Week 1. But after Jordy Nelson left the game with an injury on the first drive on Sunday night, Adams was thrust into the lead role on a team that had no choice but to throw the ball for much of the game.
If Nelson is expected to miss additional time, Adams may become the go-to target for Aaron Rodgers, and that's never a bad role to have.
