Kareem Hunt Can Prove He's for Real

Every part of Kareem Hunt's pro debut for the Kansas City Chiefs was incredible, including our advanced metrics. Those metrics include Net Expected Points (NEP), which reflects the number of points a player contributes -- either positively or negatively -- to his team versus what is expected against the league average. That is determined by looking at historical results in similar game situations (down, distance, line of scrimmage). You can read more about NEP in our glossary.

It was an impressive debut for the third-round-pick in which he finished with a perfect performance rating of 100, per numberFire Live. His Receiving NEP of 8.74 was better than any player on the Patriots, while his 2.88 Rushing NEP demonstrated his ability to consistently make positive plays on the ground. His 78-yard touchdown catch -- on which he was matched up against a linebacker -- was a thing of beauty, and he demonstrated his versatility as a weapon on the ground and through the air.

Hunt finished with 5 receptions for 98 yards and 2 receiving touchdowns to go with 17 carries for 148 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Hunt will be at home -- where the Chiefs enjoy one of the best home-field advantages in football -- as the lead back for a team with the fifth-highest implied total, 26.75. However, the visiting Philadelphia Eagles ranked 11th in limiting FanDuel fantasy points to running backs last year.

While the matchup isn't exactly ideal, Hunt should be in for another busy day. Backup Charcandrick West did play on 35 percent of the offensive snaps, but only saw one carry. For a very reasonable price tag of $7,800 on FanDuel, Hunt should prove to be a popular play in DFS circles.
