Running Back

Chalk:

Melvin Gordon, $7,600 vs New Orleans Saints - Luckily, the chalk at running back appears to be settling in on a back from each price range, with daily fantasy players focusing on Le'Veon Bell at the top, Melvin Gordon as a mid-range option, and Jordan Howard as a salary saver. So, if you don't believe in one of them this week, finding direct price pivots is a lot easier.

Pivots:

David Johnson, $8,700 vs Los Angeles Rams - In 10 games since taking over as the starter, including the playoffs, David Johnson has averaged a healthy 20.9 touches, 125 total yards, and 0.9 touchdowns, good for 20 FanDuel points per game. He's simply been the best back in fantasy and is worth targeting any time you can get him at low ownership in a decent matchup. With the Arizona Cardinals boasting the fifth-highest implied team total, as well as being 7.5-point favorites against a Los Angeles Rams defense that has given up the 12th-most fantasy points to opposing backs this year after allowing the 12th-most in 2015, Johnson possesses one of the highest floors on the entire slate.

LeGarrette Blount, $7,500 vs Buffalo Bills - LeGarrette Blount has quietly averaged the eighth-most FanDuel points (17.3) per game among running backs through three weeks, while leading the league in rushing attempts, yards, and touchdowns. With Dion Lewis out and Tom Brady suspended, the New England Patriots have been content to lean on Blount to carry the load, a trend that should continue for at least one more week. In addition to having one of the most reliable workloads on the slate, Blount draws a terrific matchup against the Buffalo Bills, who were the worst run defense in the league in 2015 according to our metrics. Over the past two weeks, they've been worn down by other workhorse backs, David Johnson and Matt Forte, who averaged 110 total yards, 2.5 touchdowns, and 27.25 FanDuel points

Dwayne Washington, $4,500 at Chicago Bears - This week, offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter said that rookie Dwayne Washington is building confidence and should see more carries going forward. After watching scat-back Theo Riddick struggle to get much of anything going on the ground in Week 3, it makes sense that Washington would handle the bulk of the between-the-tackles and short yardage work going forward. In a Week 4 matchup against a Chicago Bears defense that will be without six defensive starters, the Detroit Lions could find themselves scoring often and playing with the lead, both of which could result in a big fantasy performance from the minimum-priced Washington. He won't be sneaky, but he is sure to have lower ownership than Jordan Howard.
