Always Play Drew Brees as a Favorite

I can hear some of you screaming "DUH!" at your screens right now -- suggesting someone to start Drew Brees is one of the safest suggestions a fantasy writer can make.

But hear me out.

Earlier this year, I wrote an article about how quarterbacks performed as favorites opposed to underdogs and found the favored quarterback scored an average of 19.19 standard fantasy points per contests, while underdogs scored an average of 17.90, a difference of about 1.29 points.

The Saints are currently favored by a point versus the Raiders.

Throughout Brees' career, when his team's favored, he's averaged 25.63 fantasy points per game. That is the highest average among all active quarterbacks regardless if they are favored or are underdogs.

Another factor going for Brees is that he has also averaged 25.65 fantasy points per game while playing at home. With a spread of one point, the game script should also be in his favor.

According to TeamRankings.com, the Saints have gone over their total 59.3% of the time in home games since Brees joined them in 2006, which ranks second among all franchises.

Brees is the second most expensive quarterback on the FanDuel slate this weekend at $8,700, but his upside is enormous.
