3 Daily Fantasy Basketball Players to Avoid on 1/17/18

Coming off a poor performance and with a tough matchup against the San Antonio Spurs tonight, Allen Crabbe is worth avoiding in NBA DFS contests. Who else should you stay away from Wednesday?

In daily fantasy basketball, finding players you want to roster is a lot easier than finding players to avoid.

You can find a ton of great information and research on guys you might want to include in your DFS NBA lineups, but what about guys you may want to lessen your exposure to, or even fade altogether?

Avoiding players whose matchups or situations aren't as great as they seem can often be just as important as finding the best targets. After all, it takes only one player to sink a lineup. Searching for the landmines could mean the difference between winning and losing your contests. Which players should we avoid tonight?

Brandon Ingram, SF, Los Angeles Lakers

FanDuel Price: $6,600

Brandon Ingram missed the Los Angeles Lakers' game on Monday against the Memphis Grizzlies, and after practicing on Tuesday, Ingram is listed as questionable for their Wednesday matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Ingram seemed confident he will play Wednesday, but he might come down to a game-time decision, making him a risky fantasy investment regardless. On top of that, the Thunder are holding small forwards to just 0.76 FanDuel points per minute, so it's probably better off to just avoid Ingram completely tonight.

Wayne Ellington, SG, Miami Heat

FanDuel Price: $4,900

Wayne Ellington is coming off a nice game in which he scored 20 points on 5-for-11 shooting from downtown Monday against the Chicago Bulls, but he has a much tougher opponent Wednesday in the Milwaukee Bucks.

Milwaukee is holding opposing shooting guards to 0.79 FanDuel points per minute, and if Ellington is matched up against Malcolm Brogdon, there is a chance he puts up a landmine performance. Between Brogdon and Khris Middleton, Ellington has a much tougher pathway to value.

Allen Crabbe, SF, Brooklyn Nets

FanDuel Price: $4,500

Allen Crabbe is coming off a poor shooting night where he was also somewhat limited by foul trouble. While his price tag is appealing, the Brooklyn Nets have the second-lowest implied total of the night (99.5), so Crabbe going against the San Antonio Spurs is far from appealing.

San Antonio has held small forwards to 0.75 FanDuel points per minute, and they have done it without Kawhi Leonard for most of the season. Assuming Leonard is back for Wednesday's game, Crabbe is not a good player to roster.
