3 Daily Fantasy Basketball Players to Avoid on 2/2/17
In daily fantasy basketball, finding players you want to roster is a lot easier than finding players to avoid.
You can find a ton of great information and research on guys you might want to include in your DFS NBA lineups, but what about guys you may want to lessen your exposure to, or even fade altogether?
Avoiding players whose matchups or situations aren't as great as they seem can often be just as important as finding the best targets. After all, it only takes one player to sink a lineup. Searching for the landmines could mean the difference from winning or losing your contests.
Dennis Schroder, PG, Atlanta Hawks
FanDuel Price: $6,700
Dennis Schroder's inconsistency has continued -- over his last 4 games, he's scored 38-plus FanDuel points twice, while also failing to reach 15 FanDuel points on the other occasions. That will have to cease if the Atlanta Hawks want any chance at grabbing a high playoff seed.
After his 14.2-FanDuel-point dud against the Miami Heat on Wednesday, he could be in line for another poor performance against Patrick Beverley and the Houston Rockets.
In their four career meetings, Schroder is shooting 43.3% from the floor to go with 3.8 turnovers in just 26.5 minutes per game. With the Rockets holding opposing point guards to 0.87 FanDuel points per minute, lay off Schroder on the second half of a back-to-back.
Nerlens Noel, PF, Philadelphia 76ers
FanDuel Price: $6,200
Speaking of duds from Wednesday, if the Philadelphia 76ers can't be competitive against the Dallas Mavericks, they certainly won't be tonight against the San Antonio Spurs.
It also doesn't appear that Nerlens Noel will get enough minutes to reach value with Jahlil Okafor healthy. Over the last three games with them both active, Noel has averaged just 15.6 FanDuel points per game.
At $6,200, at least 30 FanDuel points is needed from him to justify a roster spot. Noel is averaging a solid 1.05 FanDuel points per minute this season, but if we can't rely on him getting mid-20s in minutes, he is a landmine waiting to happen -- our models project him for only 17.4 FanDuel points tonight.
Ryan Anderson, PF, Houston Rockets
FanDuel Price: $5,900
Ryan Anderson has posted two strong games in a row for the Rockets, but now that he's dealing with Paul Millsap on Wednesday, it'll be a tough matchup for him despite Atlanta being on the heels of a back-to-back.
According to our Defense versus Position (DvP) chart, Anderson has the third-worst matchup of any power forward on tonight's short slate. With the Hawks only allowing 0.84 FanDuel points per minute to the position, jump off the Anderson train before it derails.
