Dodgers to interview Bud Black for manager job
The Los Angeles Dodgers will interview Bud Black for their managerial opening, FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports.
Black was in line to get the Washington Nationals' gig, but the two sides couldn't come together on a contract. Rosenthal says the Dodgers are about halfway through the interview process, and there could be as many as 10 candidates. Director of Player Development Gabe Kapler is viewed as the favorite at this point to get the job.
As manager for the San Diego Padres from 2007 into 2015, Black has a career managerial record of 649-713. His 2015 Padres generated just the 23rd-most runs per game on offense and had a league-low .243 team batting average and .300 team on-base percentage. His pitching staff had a 20th-ranked team ERA and 16th-ranked team WHIP in 2015.
