Pitchers
Gerrit Cole ($10,700)
At his second highest salary this month after New York's right-hander recorded eight strikeouts and 52 FanDuel points in his most recent start, Cole will challenge a Texas Rangers' team with a 24.2% K-rate and a .310 weighted on-base average in their last 2784 plate appearances.
After a subpar month in May, the 32-year old has displayed improved form in his last four starts, producing a 3.98 expected Fielding Independent Pitching rating (xFIP), a 14.4% swinging strike percentage, and six or more strikeouts in 75% of his appearances.
In a matchup against six Rangers' hitters with K-rates above 23.3%, Cole ranks as numberFire's second overall pitcher with a 34.5 fantasy projection and 6.73 expected strikeouts.
Zack Wheeler ($10,500)
After a slight drop to his lowest salary point during June, Wheeler ranks third among Sunday's pitchers with a 33.6 fantasy projection and a 3.2 value rating versus a New York Mets' offense with a .344 wOBA and a 22.1% K-rate.
In his last nine starts, the veteran has recorded solid production, accounting for a 3.76 xFIP, a 12.1% swinging strike rate, and 40 or more FanDuel points in 55% of his appearances.
With Sunday's third highest strikeout prediction at 6.3, Wheeler is capable of a ceiling performance against five New York batters with K-rates between 20.8% and 26.8%.
Tyler Glasnow ($10,000)
Tampa Bay's hard throwing right-hander is numberFire's fifth rated starter with a 31.4 fantasy expectation versus a Kansas City Royals' unit with a .304 wOBA and a 25.2% K-rate.
Despite recording a 4.97 Earned Run Average in five starts since his return, Glasnow is due for a quality performance when examining his 3.53 xFIP, 15.5% swinging strike rate, and 3.90 Skill Interactive Earned Run Average through 25.1 innings.
With positive regression on the forefront, the veteran has a great opportunity to reduce his bloated ERA against six Kansas City hitters with K-rates ranging from 23.3% to 34.5%.
Stacks
Levi Stoudt will make his first career start in a difficult spot against an Atlanta lineup ranked first on Sunday with an appetizing 6.3 expected team total.
In his first stint in the Major Leagues, the 25-year old has been horrible through seven innings, recording a 5.09 xFIP and a generous 11.4% walk rate while his Triple-A metrics (7.03 xFIP in 2023, 5.93 xFIP in 2022) reinforce a below-average profile.
With an obvious lack of control and unique reverse splits (.493 wOBA, 5.76 xFIP), Atlanta combinations can feature their top right-handed bats including Ronald Acuna Jr. (.455 expected wOBA, 15.1% barrel rate), Austin Riley (.345 expected wOBA, 9.7% barrel rate), Sean Murphy (.414 expected wOBA, 18.1% barrel rate), Marcell Ozuna (.381 expected wOBA, 15.3% barrel rate), and Orlando Arcia (.322 expected wOBA, 7.2% barrel rate).
In a matchup against Luis Medina, the Blue Jays are in a great spot to record barrels against a wild right-hander with a shaky 4.63 xFIP and 9.7% walk percentage.
To best attack his 41.0% ground-ball percentage and his struggles versus right-handed bats (.417 wOBA, 5.01 xFIP), ideal Toronto stacks should group their top hitters from the right side including George Springer (.345 expected OBA, 9.3% barrel rate), Whit Merrifield (.260 expected average, 26.0% fly-ball percentage), Bo Bichette (10.0% barrel rate, .379 expected wOBA), Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (.397 expected wOBA, 13.6% barrel rate), and Matt Chapman (.363 expected wOBA, 18.4% barrel rate).
Despite yesterday's disappointing four run performance, the Rays are another stack to consider with a 5.16 expected total against left-hander Daniel Lynch.
With his main weakness occurring against the opposing side of the plate (.351 wOBA, 4.68 xFIP versus RHH), Randy Arozarena (.383 expected wOBA, 15.7% barrel rate), Yandy Diaz (.394 expected wOBA, .306 expected wOBA), Wander Franco (.351 expected wOBA, .292 expected average), Harold Ramirez (.335 expected wOBA, .280 expected average), and Manuel Margot (.267 expected average) all rate as viable options with their production versus lefties.
