3 MLB FanDuel Studs to Target on Tuesday 6/14/22

Rhys Hoskins has been hot at the dish, and he's got a great matchup tonight. Who else should we consider?

Just like in other sports, the focal point of your daily fantasy baseball lineups will be your high-salary studs. These guys take up by far the biggest chunk of your cap space, but they also offer the highest ceiling. And in the case of pitchers, the high-salary options typically come with the highest floors, too.

For hitters, we're looking for guys with big numbers, strong matchups, and with players around them that are likely to produce, as well, increasing our chances for runs and RBI. For pitchers, we want big strikeout numbers, while the ability to go deep in a game and pick up a win is also valuable.

With your high-salary picks playing such a big role in your lineup, you need to be right on these guys, so let's take a look at a few top-end options you can count on to anchor your lineup today.

Dylan Cease, SP, Chicago White Sox ($9,600)

There are a plethora of unbelievable pitching options available, so we need to parse through those options very carefully. Gerrit Cole ($10,400) is always a good bet, but the Tampa Bay Rays are likely to stack a bunch of lefties against him to make life tough.

The same goes for the highest-salaried arm, Max Fried ($10,500), who's been brilliant but faces a surging Washington Nationals offense. Logan Gilbert ($10,200) also faces the red-hot Minnesota Twins.

One option we shouldn't steer clear of is Dylan Cease of the Chicago White Sox. Let's start with the breakout campaign for the young righty, who's logged a brilliant 45.9% ground-ball rate paired with a 32.1% strikeout rate. He's also allowed only 0.71 HR/9 this season.

His opponent tonight should be particularly beneficial as well. Detroit ranks third-worst in team wOBA (.288), eighth-worst in isolated power (.133, ISO), and strikeout at a healthy clip (23.4%).

When we marry all of these metrics together, it's no surprise that Cease is a top projected arm (34.4 FanDuel points), making him a great play.

Rhys Hoskins, 1B, Philadelphia Phillies ($3,300)

After a delightful rookie campaign, Trevor Rogers has struggled tremendously in his sophomore campaign. Particularly, after being brilliant in any form of a matchup, he has been absolutely blind-sided by righty batters. That's amounted to a .490 slugging percentage, 1.60 HR/9, and a 40.3% fly-ball rate bad.

Starting to add all of those pieces into the puzzle, it's not a huge surprise that the Philadelphia Phillies will be a popular play this evening. As a team, their metrics are already a bit staggering; they clock in third-best in ISO and seventh-best in team wOBA.

Rhys Hoskins has been bopping homers without abandon, and with the positives of this matchup, he has a lot to add to his season totals. He's logged a tantalizing .250 ISO in this split in 2022, including a .500 slugging percentage and a whopping 60.0% fly-ball rate.

Get Hoskins in your lineups.

Jurickson Profar, OF, San Diego Padres ($3,500)

After several seasons in a row of being unbelievably consistent -- and a top performer to boot -- Kyle Hendricks has become an absolute death knell to the Cubs this season.

Part of the reason that Hendricks has been so bad is that he has gotten pretty much torched by left-handed batters. He's allowed 2.48 HR/9 and a .581 slugging percentage in the split. Lefties are licking their chops with him on the mound.

Despite a variety of maladies and poor performance striking the San Diego Padres, Jurickson Profar has found his way consistently into the lineup, and he's been great. In 265 plate appearances this year, Profar has recorded a 120 wRC+, paired with a stellar 12.5% walk rate and a solid .170 ISO mark.

With a 5.54 implied team total tonight, the Padres are a favorite of Vegas to do some damage, and I think the table-setter Profar needs to be in the mix.
