FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Helper: Thursday 8/22/19

Gerrit Cole draws a fantastic matchup against the lowly Tigers, but will you be able to afford his high price tag?

One hurler clearly stands out from the rest tonight, but where else can you look in tournaments? Hitting is still aplenty, of course, with the Braves, Rays, Dodgers, and Astros among the teams in soft matchups.

Our daily helper is available every day to analyze FanDuel's main slate and help give you a starting point when you're building lineups. Be sure to also incorporate our great tools into your research process. Whether you're looking for daily projections, the latest starting lineups and weather, or batting and pitching heat maps to find the best matchups -- we've got you covered! And don't forget to take a listen to The Solo Shot podcast with Jim Sannes, who breaks down the MLB daily fantasy slate each day.

On that note, let's highlight some of the top options for today's FanDuel main slate.

Pitchers to Target

High-Priced Pitchers

Gerrit Cole ($12,200 on FanDuel): Justin Verlander predictably steamrolled the Tigers on Wednesday night for 58 FanDuel points, and it says something when the greedy among us were hoping for even more. Well, Gerrit Cole is next in line to feast on the whiff-happy Tigers, a team with the worst wRC+ (73) and strikeout rate (27.7%) against righties among active rosters. Cole blows everyone else on the slate away with a 2.94 SIERA and 36.8% strikeout rate, and it's scary to think what kind of ceiling he has in this spot. While the exorbitant price tag makes it tempting to try some other things in tournaments, chances are you won't want to be on the outside looking in by the end of the night.
