4 MLB Prop Bets to Target on 6/3/19

Player props can be useful in a variety of ways, from taking advantage of them straight up (to the tune of cold hard cash) to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy baseball. High odds for a hitter bombing a home run or a pitcher tallying several strikeouts is something worth considering in building your FanDuel lineups. And that's a two-way street.

While you can use those odds in fantasy, you can also utilize our fantasy projections and a variety of other tools to help make money on betting everyday player props.

For the purposes of this article, we are using the odds provided at FanDuel Sportsbook to pinpoint three spots where value can be had on those players likely to go yard and over- or under-perform their expected strikeout total.

Please note that betting lines and our game projections may change throughout the day after this article is published.

Walker Buehler OVER 5.5 Strikeouts (-118)

There is a bit of juice on the over for Walker Buehler's strikeout prop tonight, but it's worth considering.

Over his last six starts, Buehler has six or more strikeouts in each outing -- the level we should see him reach yet again tonight versus the Arizona Diamondbacks, who have a 23.1% strikeout rate versus right-handed pitchers. Over the course of his short career, Buehler has 15.1 innings pitched against the Diamondbacks, racking up 14 strikeouts in that time, which is good for 8.2 strikeouts per nine innings.

Buehler's 23.8% strikeout on the season should shine through tonight against a team he has performed well against in his brief career.

Enrique Hernandez To Hit a Home Run (+460)

The Los Angeles Dodgers have an implied run total set at 4.64, the highest on the slate. Does that mean they will be going deep tonight?

Enrique Hernandez might not be known as a power hitter, but his .200 ISO and 50.9% hard-hit rate versus lefties this season should have you thinking otherwise. It helps that he is up against Robbie Ray tonight. Ray is allowing a 44.8% hard-hit rate to righty hitters this season and has been torched by Hernandez in the past.

Throughout their history against each other, Hernandez has eight hits, three of which are home runs, giving him a .426 wOBA and .387 ISO against Ray. If you are a believer in batter-versus-pitcher numbers, this is the spot to ride with Hernandez and grab him at great odds to go deep.

Eric Lauer OVER 4.5 Strikeouts (+100)

There are even odds on Eric Lauer's strikeout prop tonight, and the over is looking like the bet to consider.

A prop of only 4.5 strikeouts may not seem high, but Lauer is carrying just a 19.7% strikeout rate this season, which is the second-lowest of the starting pitchers tonight. Currently, numberFire has Lauer projected for 4.70 strikeouts tonight against the Philadelphia Phillies, which would have the over hitting on this prop.

Lauer certainly isn't a household name when it comes to pitchers, and attacking an always dangerous Phillies lineup might not be the first choice of bettors. But the even odds on the strikeout prop along with the strong projections put him in a good spot tonight.

Rhys Hoskins To Hit a Home Run (+310)

Rhys Hoskins is tied for the second-best odds to hit a home run in this game, and with his power versus southpaws, he is worth considering tonight.

numberFire has Hoskins projected for 0.23 home runs tonight, which is the sixth-highest of any hitter in action, and that shouldn't come as surprise given his numbers and the matchup. He comes in with a .294 ISO, 47.4% hard-hit rate, and 42.1% fly-ball rate versus left-handed pitchers. That lines up perfectly against Eric Lauer, who surrenders 1.42 home runs per nine innings to righty hitters along with a 44.9% hard-hit rate.

Some of the best power-hitting numbers on the slate are held by Hoskins, and despite this being at Petco, he has the power to go deep against a pitcher who struggles against righty bats.
