Freddie Freeman, 1B, Atlanta Braves

FanDuel Price: $4,400

Vincent Velasquez has solid peripherals, but it hasn't really translated into good results as of late.

For the season, Velasquez has a 3.92 SIERA and 26.3% strikeout rate, but his last seven starts have been a disaster, posting a 7.52 ERA, 21.9% strikeout rate, 10.6% walk rate, and 38.0% hard-hit rate allowed while failing to exceed 5 innings in any start. A .390 BABIP suggests some poor luck, but overall, this still isn't a pitcher who looks very untrustworthy right now.

But with more obvious matchups on the board, the Atlanta Braves aren't likely to garner high-ownership, making Freddie Freeman an excellent play in this spot. Freeman may not have a gaudy home run total (23), but he's still pretty ruthless against righties this year with a 44.9% hard-hit rate and .414 expected weighted on-base average (xwOBA). Owning a career 146 wRC+ in the platoon split, using Freeman as part of a Braves stack is a great way to go in case Velasquez's struggles continue.
