FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Helper: Thursday 9/20/18
The pitching cupboard is pretty bare on Thursday's seven-game main slate, but luckily we still have Max Scherzer to rely upon in a bounce-back spot against the New York Mets. Given the lack of quality arms, offense is naturally more plentiful, with the Cleveland Indians and Washington Nationals sitting at the top.
Our daily helper is available every day to analyze FanDuel's main slate and help give you a starting point when you're building lineups. Be sure to also incorporate our great tools into your research process. Whether you're looking for daily projections, the latest starting lineups and weather, or batting and pitching heat maps to find the best matchups -- we've got you covered! And don't forget to take a listen to The Solo Shot podcast with Jim Sannes, who breaks down the MLB daily fantasy slate each day.
On that note, let's highlight some of the top options for today's FanDuel main slate.
Pitchers to Target
Max Scherzer ($12,000 on FanDuel): One of the most reliable pitchers all year, Max Scherzer failed spectacularly as the chalk in his last start, posting a season-worst 12 FanDuel points after coughing up 6 earned runs to the Atlanta Braves. Disappointing as that was, we shouldn't be worried by one poor start, and should hop back on board versus the New York Mets. Scherzer's season marks crush everyone else on the board, with a 2.75 SIERA, 34.2% strikeout rate and 6.0% walk rate, and while the Mets are more of a middle-of-the-road matchup, against Scherzer they have a slate-low 3.10 implied total. Add in that the Nationals are a whopping -280 favorite against Jason Vargas -- giving Scherzer a good shot at the win -- and Mad Max is the no-brainer top option tonight.
