Thomas Pham has picked up his play over the last six games, slugging four home runs, and even earning a start out of the two-hole on Thursday.

The St. Louis Cardinals face Jameson Taillon, who hasn't had a spectacular season, but he's struck out righties 24.0% of the time, which is in line with what he did in 2016. The Cardinals have a middle-of-the-road 4.63 implied team total.

We know Pham has some pop, but he strikes out too often (24.6% rate), and hits the ball on the ground at a high rate (54.8%), making it difficult to regularly rely on him outside of particularly favorable matchups. Furthermore, the price has slowly crept up out of the more desirable sub-$3,000 range.

Even if Pham gets another start in the top-half of the order, tonight isn't the time to deploy him.
