Ryan Tannehill, Miami Dolphins

Before the 2015 season, I felt very good about Ryan Tannehill’s prospects both from a fantasy and real football perspective.

Wow, was I wrong.

There are a lot of reasons why Tannehill struggled this season (a shoddy offensive line, a coaching upheaval, etc.) but one area where he really failed to live up to expectations was on 3rd-down.

It doesn’t help that Miami averaged 8.2 yards to go on their 3rd-down plays this season, most in the league, but completing just 55.8 percent of your passing attempts on this crucial down doesn’t aid your cause, either.

The addition of Adam Gase as the Dolphins’ new head coach lends a bit of optimism for Tannehill’s future, but he must improve on 3rd-down if he intends to reach the upper echelon on NFL quarterbacks.
