New York Jets Rushing Offense

I know the header here is the New York Jets' rushing offense, but let me be clear: this is all about Bilal Powell. Chris Ivory has been efficiency's arch nemesis the second half of the season, and Powell is playing well enough to exploit a juicy matchup.

Entering Week 17, the Buffalo Bills rank 32nd in Adjusted Defensive Rushing NEP per play. They allowed Ivory to rush for 99 yards on 18 carries in Week 10, and the last two weeks have seen Darren McFadden and Alfred Morris rack up 183 yards on only 33 carries against them. At least Bills head coach Rex Ryan is a defensive genius, right?

Powell started to generate buzz a few weeks ago because of his increasing involvement in the offense. That only became more apparent last week when Powell played 62 percent of the snaps despite the Jets being in positive game script for most of the game. Part of that was due to Ivory's being dinged up, but it aligns well for a continued solid role for Powell moving forward.

A point of concern for a running back would be a tight spread on the road in a divisional game. That can lead to a high dud-rate for offenses as things can go very wrong in those situations. Powell doesn't carry those same worries.

Because of Powell's role in the passing game, he would still see volume even if the Jets were to find themselves in the hole. In the six games since his return from injury, Powell has averaged 7.33 targets per game, accounting for an 18.33 percent market share on the team. He's basically their No. 3 receiver. I wouldn't worry about the worst-case scenario.

Powell's snap counts give him a good floor; the matchup brings a higher ceiling. And his price? It's too delectable to pass up. At only $6,000 on FanDuel and $4,500 on DraftKings, he'll give you flexibility to pay up for those big-time wide receivers without limiting yourself elsewhere.
