Plugging the Gaps: IDP Waiver Wire for Week 10

One of the things I try to do in this column every week is illustrate some of my recommendation thought processes. One thing we usually don’t like to do when looking for good matchups is select defensive ends in 3-4 schemes, or often any kind of interior defensive lineman (defensive tackles and nose tackles). However, these players are often much more available and can be streamed in easier than 4-3 defensive ends -– the premier defensive line position. Jarvis Jenkins makes for a good matchup play in Week 10 because his Chicago Bears will be facing a St. Louis Rams’ offensive line allowing a solidly mediocre 5.1% sack percentage (good for 16th in the NFL) and a 13.5% stuff percentage (worst in the NFL) to opposing defenses.

With a ripe matchup like that, Jenkins will surely be able to take his three points each of the last two games and improve on those numbers with a big play or two behind the line. Add in the fact that we know the Rams’ offense runs through Todd Gurley (St. Louis calls 1.05 pass plays to run plays, second-lowest in the NFL) and you have a prime matchup for the Bears’ defensive front.

Jenkins is available in 100.0% of ESPN IDP leagues. We project him for around 2.5 tackles, an extremely high chance for a sack, potential for a fumble recovery, and a total score of 5.49 balanced fantasy points in Week 10.
