The Falcons once again find themselves as one of the five most efficient offenses in the NFL.
Perennially ranked near the top of the league, this in and of itself should be no surprise.
But what may be a surprise is the reason for their top five ranking for this season.
While Matt Ryan and Julio Jones continue to power one of the best passing games in the league, the transformation of sophomore tailback Devonta Freeman from one of the league's least efficient tailbacks in 2014 to one of its best in 2015 has put this rushing game in a territory it hasn't seen since Michael Turner was in his prime as the league's most efficient rushing offense.
After rookie Tevin Coleman was knocked out of Week 2 against the Giants with a fractured rib, Freeman took hold of the starting job and has not looked back since.
From Weeks 3 to 5, Freeman's 539 combined rushing and receiving yards have accounted for 47% of the Falcons' total offense. and his 8 rushing touchdowns on the year lead's the league by a wide margin.
With Freeman running angry and touting a healthy 0.21 Rushing NEP per attempt that not only leads all running backs with at least 50 attempts this year but also nearly doubles that of the two players right behind him on this list in Chris Johnson and Giovani Bernard, look for the Falcons to continue to lean on their stud tailback and set of Pro Bowlers in Ryan and Jones to continue to sit atop the league as one of the NFL's elite offenses.
