5 Daily Fantasy Football Matchups to Exploit in Week 5

The Cardinals have gotten off to a hot start thus far, and it doesn't look like that will stop in Week 5.

The NFL season is far too similar to Christopher Walken's role in Pulp Fiction. It shows up, makes us all happy for a bit, and then disappears just as quickly as it arrives. You enjoy the ride while it lasts, but the end just refuses to chill out for a bit.

While we're not quite in the "watch hidden in hiney" portion of Walken's monologue, we're already pretty deep. Entering Week 5 of the NFL season, we're a quarter of the way done with the fantasy-relevant portion of the schedule. I'm not saying that I'm shedding tears yet, but the ducts are starting to swell a bit.

As such, it's time for us to get cooking in daily fantasy. Unlike with most other sports, there isn't just an endless supply of slates for us to comb through. We get about 16 good ones before stuff starts to get wonky. Thankfully, this is a great week to crank things up a notch.

As we do each week, we're going to highlight five matchups that are ripe for the picking in Week 5 of the NFL season. In order to find these mismatches, we'll be looking at numberFire's Net Expected Points (NEP). NEP is the efficiency metric we use to track the effectiveness of both teams and players over the course of a season.

In case you're new to the site, here's how NEP works. In each situation, there is an expected number of points a team will score on a drive. A positive play (a three-yard run on 3rd and 2) will increase this expected point total while a negative play (a three-yard run on 3rd and 4) will decrease it. NEP totals up all of these changes in the expected point totals over the course of a season and lumps them into one stat. For team totals, the NEP has been adjusted based on strength of opponents.

Now, let's dive in and see which matchups can help us squeeze all of the pleasure out of this fleeting passion before time runs out.
