Zach Ertz/Brent Celek, TE, Philadelphia Eagles

I love the Eagles tight ends against the Cowboys defense this week, but this option presents a lot of risk because it’s difficult to gauge who the right play may be. Zach Ertz ($3,200) is obviously a matchup problem, but he’s had trouble getting on the field because Brent Celek ($3,300) is such an outstanding blocker.

However, Eagles head coach Chip Kelly is notorious for taking advantage of favorable matchups, and I don’t see a single linebacker or safety who could cover Ertz. Extra blocking may not be needed for Philly in this game, considering the Cowboys mediocre pass rush. The culmination of those two factors has me pretty high on Ertz this week. I think he can exploit the Cowboys’ linebackers in coverage, and I have a feeling Kelly will find a way to get him on the field in this one.

Not to mention, the Eagles tight ends have had success in the past against Dallas (Celek went for 3 catches, 71 yards and a touchdown in the NFC East Championship last year), and the Cowboys rank dead last in covering tight ends this year.

Although Celek has been more involved in the passing game lately, he still hasn’t found the end zone this year and doesn’t provide the favorable red zone matchup that Ertz does.

Ertz ranks exactly 10th amongst all tight ends in Reception NEP this year, which is quite impressive given the limited opportunities that he’s had. If he’s going to ball in any game this year, I think it will be Thursday against Dallas.
