6 Things I Learned From Week 12 of the NFL Season
The Eagles Love Fantasy Football
We all know and love the up-tempo Chip Kelly offense. Entering Week 12, only Indianapolis had run more offensive plays than Philadelphia this season (discounting Pittsburgh since they played an additional game), giving players on the Eagles a lot of fantasy value.
But this also impacted (and impacts) the amount of plays the defense faces. Because the offense is so fast, opposing offenses then see more opportunity. And it's awesome for fantasy football purposes.
Zach Mettenberger learned all about that this week. He became the ninth quarterback this season to finish with fantasy QB1 (top-12) numbers against the Eagles - the only two passers to not end up in the weekly top 12 at the position against Philly have been Cam Newton, who finished as the 14th-best quarterback against them a few weeks back, and Eli Manning.
Though the Eagles defense is strong according to our Net Expected Points (NEP) metrics, it continues to be a great one to target in fantasy because of the number of plays you can expect your offensive player to be a part of. Even if that player is on the Titans.
