Zach Ertz Breaks the Single-Season Tight End Reception Record

The defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles are still alive in the 2018 playoff race, and on Sunday one of their most productive players took an NFL record from a player from their division rival Dallas Cowboys.

Tight end Zach Ertz had 12 receptions against the Houston Texans, giving him his fifth game of the season with ten or more receptions. This took him to 113 receptions for the season, breaking the NFL tight end single-season record, previously held by Jason Witten. It was the 10th game with ten or more receptions in Ertz career, trailing only Witten (11) and Tony Gonzalez (15).

Ertz found the end zone twice on Sunday, tying his previous career high of eight touchdowns in a season. He finished with 35 fantasy points, making him the TE1 in Week 16 (pending Monday night). Ertz was not the only Eagles player for whom Week 16 was a record breaking one, however, as the next slide will reveal.
