T.J. Yeldon, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars

DraftKings Price: $4,400

Projected Points: 10.62

Projected Value (points per $1,000): 2.41

Leonard Fournette is sidelined this weekend due to suspension, the Jaguars will turn to a two-headed backfield with T.J. Yeldon and Carlos Hyde. With the suspension coming down after salaries were released, both running backs ended up being mis-priced. It’s entirely conceivable that both players hit their salary-implied projection, but the better value ends up being Yeldon.

It’s been a fairly even split in terms of workload between the two running backs since Hyde’s arrival, but snaps have been dominated by Yeldon. Hyde only has two targets as a Jaguar, which came during his first game in Week 8. Yeldon has been more active in the passing game despite playing second fiddle to Fournette since then.

At his peak, Yeldon was a $6,400 player, and while that was without Fournette or Hyde, he was priced up for a reason. In games that Fournette missed, Yeldon averaged 16 opportunities (rushes and targets) per game, with 6.4 of those coming as targets. His output in those six games as the primary back resulted in 15.7 DraftKings points per game.

This has been touched on before but is worth reminding readers again: the Indianapolis Colts have been one of the worst defenses covering running backs out of the backfield. They have allowed the secon-most targets (104) and catches (80) to the position. If it’s one strength that Yeldon encompasses it’s his receiving ability, as he's top 10 in catches and top 5 in targets among running backs.

With the Jaguars underdogs to the Colts, the game script should favor Yeldon to Hyde as well, due to Hyde's lack of involvement in the passing attack.
